Don't Grind It Down!

According to Work Safe Victoria, you should not grind down the earth pin of a 15 amp plug; it is a dangerous modification that creates a significant risk of electric shock and fire by compromising the safety features of the electrical system. 15 amp and 10 amp plugs are designed for different socket types to prevent high-power devices from being used on circuits that cannot safely supply the necessary current. To use a 15 amp appliance with a 10 amp outlet, you must use a purpose-built adapter or have an electrician install a compatible 15 amp socket-outlet.
